2016 TBO Trifecta Challenge

Please Join us for the 1st ever TBO Trifecta Challenge organized by Three Belles Outfitters. Home base is at Three Belles Outfitters in Niantic, CT. The event will take place from Friday, July 15th through Sunday, July 24th. This is a catch-photo-release style tournament. All details and rules are stated below.

Tournament Information:

  •  Eligibility:
    The 2016 TBO Trifecta Challenge is open to all kayak anglers age 18 and over.
  • Registration:
    The registration fee of $100.00 is due on or before June 24th. Any entry received after June 24th will be charged an additional $10.00. All entries must be received before July 15th. Liability waivers must be signed & turned in to a tournament official prior to launching. Waivers will be available at the Captain’s Meeting held at Three Belles Outfitters on July 15th at 6:00pm.
  • Tournament Start and End Times:
    Friday, July 15th through Sunday, July 24th.
    The tournament start time is July 15th following the Captain’s Meeting (6-8pm). Photographic “weigh-ins” will be accepted until 2:00 PM on July 24th (Captains must be in the “weigh-in” line or have photographic evidence electronically submitted and confirmed by 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 24th for their photographic evidence to be under consideration). The weighs-in will be followed by the Captain’s Dinner and Trophy Ceremony starting at 6:00 PM.
  • All Connecticut Shoreline waters are open.
  • VHF Radios and Cell Phones are encouraged.
  • Kayaks powered by pedal, paddle or electric motors only. If you have an electric motor, check local boating laws to be certain you are in compliance. There shall be no assistance from a boat.
  • This is a rod and reel ONLY tournament.
  • The entry fee includes a Captain’s Dinner at the Trophy Ceremony, a Captain’s Bag, a raffle entry into the “Captain’s Raffle Prize”, and a 2016 TBO Trifecta Shirt for all participants.
  • There will be a series of raffles held after the trophy ceremony.
    • The “Captain’s Raffle Prize” will be a mixed basket of top prizes from our sponsors. Each tournament participant will receive one ticket for this raffle at the Captain’s Dinner Check-In. Check-Ins begin at 4:00 PM, the Captain’s Dinner Begins at 6:00 PM, the Trophy Ceremony and Raffles begin after dinner. Participants must remain present during the raffle in order to claim their prize. There will be no additional tickets sold for the “Captain’s Raffle Prize”.
    • There will be additional raffles which tickets will be available for. The additional raffles will be for other prizes from our Tournament Sponsors (see sponsor page).
    • There will also be a 50/50 cash raffle to benefit the Save the River Save the Hills Foundation.
  • We’ll be selling additional tickets to the Captain’s Dinner for guests of registered participants (registered tournament anglers meals are included). Non-participating adult plates are $20.00 and children under 12 are $10.00.
  • Tournament shirt sizes will be guaranteed for everyone registered by June 24th. After June 24th, shirt sizes will be limited and will be on a first come first served basis.
  • Safety: All registered anglers are required to wear a PFD and observe Coast Guard and Connecticut Boating laws.
  • All anglers are required to follow all Connecticut fishing regulations.
  • The Captain’s Meeting will be held on Friday, July 15th from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Three Belles Outfitters. Anglers are strongly advised to attend this meeting. All fees must be paid in full, and all waivers submitted prior to launching for the tournament. Tournament identifiers will be handed out at the meeting. One indicator will be issued per entrant, and will not be issued without a signed waiver; participants that cannot attend the Captain’s Meeting are responsible for getting in touch with a tournament official in order to turn in all paperwork, pay dues, and receive their tournament markers.
